Hi John .. I'm not surprised with your experiences with the First Sun. It's a Byron thing. Everybody wants to be there, so from a business perspective it's charge what you like and provide shit service, if the punters don't like it they can leave .. next! That was actually my experience with the Cheeky Monkey, couldn't get in after a 30 min wait because they "believed I was under 18". I was 30, half bald and totally sober .. go figure. Arrogant bastards the bouncers at that place!!! Then there was the trying to get a room and finding the only room left in Byron was going to cost $400, and that's for one of those dodgy 80's motel rooms. Slept in the car. Glad you had a ball though. The people who go there are great, it's just the business nazis that suck.. just my 2 cents :)
